Which injured player will you miss the most at the start of the 2014 season?

Several teams are adjusting to life without key players to start the season.

Kris Medlen's elbow injury led the Braves to sign Ervin Santana. The Diamondbacks season could look very different if Patrick Corbin, who emerged as the team's ace in 2013, needs Tommy John surgery. We won't see 25-year-old Jarrod Parker. The Athletics' righty will undergo his second Tommy John procedure on Tuesday. The Tigers are without a shortstop indefinitely thanks to Jose Iglesias's shin splints. It has been a brutal March, chocked full of key players suffering serious injuries and it isn't even over yet.

These injuries will change the course of the 2014 season. The loss of a top starter like Parker or Corbin can be too much for a team to make up for with depth options or last minute additions. The Braves found a comparable replacement for Medlen when they signed Santana, but that move will cost them a draft pick and $14.1 million. That price might be too high for many teams, as the Tigers reluctance to add Stephen Drew indicates. More often, an adequate replacement simply isn't available.

Even if the Tigers were to sign Drew and receive comparable production from him, it wouldn't be the same as having Iglesais. The young Cuban is a defensive master and while Drew would probably add enough extra offensive production to make up for the difference in the field, he would not replace the incredible plays, the highlight reels and the joy that comes with watching Iggy pick it at short. Baseball fans will be deprived of that. I'll miss that. I'll miss those mornings when I would wake up and watch Quick Pitch and see a clip of a play Iglesias made that no one had any right to make.
