Good morning once again baseball fans. Hope everybody isn't too tired from last night's World Series 14-inning Game 1 affair because the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets are back at it again tonight in Game 2. After last night's Royals 5-4 victory, Jacob deGrom gets the start for the Mets and Johnny Cueto will take the mound for the Royals.

Will-he-or-won't-he has been discussed at great length, but Don Mattingly did indeed interview for the Marlins manager opening on Monday.

Speaking of the Marlins, could Dan Jennings not be returning as their general manager? Scott Gelman over at Fish Stripes takes a peek at what is going on inside Marlins headquarters.

Mattingly reportedly interviewed for the opening Monday, and Owner Jeffrey Loria is thought to be notably fond of the former Dodgers manager. But if Jennings was not present for the meeting with Mattingly, who barring an unforeseen conflict remains the favorite and could be hired in the coming days, who beyond Loria had the authority in the room?

Loria is known to be involved with major club decisions. That is nothing new. But the fact he did not request Jennings attend the meeting is telling. Regardless of what anybody else believes, Loria could still hire Mattingly. And perhaps Jennings is not fond of him.

However, there is no reason for Jennings not to be involved with this process. Maybe the Marlins gave him the opportunity to return as an act of courtesy. Jennings could still return as GM. But if he is not involved in this big of a club decision, what would he gain by returning?

The Milwaukee Brewers are ready to listen to offers on anybody. Anybody!

For a team with little design on competing in 2016, there's not much reason not to have every player on the table for the right price. The Brewers have a lot of money coming off the books and no shortage of trade candidates, including the likes of Lucroy, Adam Lind, Francisco Rodriguez, Jean Segura, or even a buy-low candidate like Matt Garza (we can only hope). Olney's comments, however, leave the door open to the possibility of younger "core" players under team control like Wily Peralta, Jimmy Nelson, or any of the team's flame-throwing relief corps being moved, as well.

Watch this: the Red Sox are apparently more willing to trade prospects than they have been over previous years.

The Royals promoted Raul Mondesi for the World Series. His first in-game World Series experience will also be his first Major League experience. (!)
